Building Communities
The struggle to shape change is rarely done in isolation except when geographic barriers, poverty, rules of law or lack thereof, and other pervasive factors preclude action. With 21st century opportunities and technologies, GPU strives to convene persons across and within regions, states and continents to foster dialogue, problem solving, and co-creation at the heart of human endeavors. Some potential Communities include ....
- Communities of Practice (CoPs) in profession-specific topics
- Community-based Learning
- Communities of Leadership and Advocacy
- Communities of Mentors-Mentees
- Communities of Youth e-mpowerment
- Communities of Women e-mpowerment
Initiation of communities will follow a natural course of evolution through GPU and GtRI Capacity Building and Telepractices program activities. Stay tuned ....
What are Communities of Practice (CoPs)?
"CoPs form as groups of people with common spheres of interests join in, across, or within sector(s), peer-to-peer, creating learning networks designed for collaborative knowledge sharing, problem solving, and a myriad of evolving purposes over time.
Virtual Communities come together willingly across sectoral, geographic, and departmental divides in shared passions and field(s) of interest to—
- Share repertoire of techniques, tools, stories, experiences
- Build knowledge & capacity with regular interaction
- Develop expertise as a joint enterprise
- Solve problems via community, domain and practice"
